Islam being the way of life, covers all aspects of life and death. When it comes to death, laws of organ donation, burials, guardianship of minor children and inheritance distribution are different in western countries than from what Islam prescribes for a Muslim.

Hence it is incumbent for a Muslim living in western world, to make sure that he / she has a legally binding "Will" or "Last Testament" which will help his / her relatives to implement distribution of bequests and inheritance, funeral arrangements and guardianship of minor children in accordance with Islamic principles.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said :

It is not permissible for any Muslim who has something to will to stay for two nights without having his last will and testament written and kept ready with him. (Bukhari).
